Our partner has been appointed to design and build a €225m hotel and residential complex in the centre of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. The goal as a QC Engineer is to support the quality assurance and quality control systems and activities of the holding company and related projects and subsidiaries.

QC Engineer is responsible for:

  • developing quality audit checklists and participating in quality assurance audits of corporate and/or project quality assurance programs and plans including pre-award assessments of potential vendors and subcontractors;
  • providing expert guidance and advice on project engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, decommissioning and other activities related to the quality program/plan;
  • provides expert guidance and advice associated with the disposition of nonconforming conditions and associated corrective actions;
  • identifying applicable quality standards and critical attributes on selected engineering and procurement documents to ensure the inclusion of quality requirements;
  • reviewing and assisting in the development of critical attributes on project associated quality-related procedures and manuals for conformance to project quality assurance program/plan requirements;
  • reviewing and developing revisions/amendments to the corporate and/or project quality assurance program/plans;
  • developing position papers on new or revised regulatory requirements and their impact on the established quality assurance program;
  • reviewing and comments on corporate/project quality inspection plans;
  • following up on actions taken in response to audit findings to ensure adequacy of completed corrective actions;
  • leading Root Cause Analysis teams by identifying the use of appropriate techniques to ensure proper/correct identification of the root cause of non-compliant issues;
  • performing an advisory role for specific quality assurance projects (e.g. causal analyses, complex/high visibility quality problem resolution, and quality program development and implementation);
  • ensuring the quality records, acceptance certificates, mechanical completion certificates and the documentation for specific systems and buildings/areas are prepared and collated in accordance with project requirements;
  • coordinating with the site QC Manager for the completion of as-built turnover documentation;
  • resolving any discrepancies between the completed milestone and quality documentation;
  • reviewing suppliers inspections and test plans against the milestone scope of work;
  • coordinating with the commissioning department to define the scope of work;
  • assisting the site subcontractors to compile turnover dossiers;
  • proving progress information for incorporation into project reports;
  • signalling to the QC Manager, possible delays in QC as-built turnover documentation;
  • monitoring and controlling the status of punch list and exception lists relevant to quality dossiers;
  • ensuring compliance with safety standards and local laws and customs;
  • attending client quality management meetings;
  • coordinating any inconsistencies with test packages with the field QC site inspectors;
  • supporting the formulation and development of advanced engineering concepts associated with proposal development design or construction pertaining to quality assurance;

Functie eisen

  • familiarity with quality standards and environmental regulations;
  • familiarity with the standards for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) and Safety (OHSAS 18001);
  • familiarity with product certification standards;
  • familiarity with the processes implemented by the company and with the reference profiles for all company functions;
  • excellent knowledge of English and Dutch, preferably, knowledge also of other languages (French, Spanish, Russian);
  • familiarity with the legislation concerting works contracts and public works and the relevant laws;
  • ability to organize the activities in the framework of the process managed and in relation to the other corporate processes, identifying and removing the inefficiencies;
  • technical school diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil or construction or environmental engineering/architecture;
  • relevant experience on similar roles;
  • experience within multicultural and international environment working for General contractor companies in private and public civil engineering projects;
  • good knowledge of MS Office Suite;
